Method
How it works
An old Indian way of placing a building with the sun and a compass. Not magnetic energy science. Not a promise that a corner will mint money. Keep classical teaching, living practice, and marketing apart.
Why the north-east is talked about
The north-east is Ishana: the light and head corner of a plan. In a house you can still turn, that is where you keep openness and morning. In a rented room, “north-east of the apartment” is often someone else’s toilet. Then the useful move is simpler: clear the north-east of the room you actually live in.
A toilet in the north-east of a plan is a layout conflict — wet against a corner that wants to stay open and dry. It is not a curse. You do not owe anyone a demolition, a priest, or a strip of metal.

East
Door, morning light, a place to face the day.
South-east
Kitchen and fire, in the classical placement.

Service, heat, and caution. Not a doom wall.

Heavy storage and mass. Not a mandatory master bedroom — that is popular teaching.

Containment. Classically closer to water than the north-east spreadsheet is.

Five elements, two maps
Fire in the south-east is classical. Water-equals-north-east is a modern spreadsheet. Varuna, when the older books speak of water, is of the west. If a consultant treats the north-east as a cash aquifer, you are listening to marketing.
