Case 02

1-bed, south-facing unit door, kitchen on the north wall

Corridor door faces south. Kitchen is a north galley (builder stack). Living gets the south and west windows. Bedroom is east of the living room.

Rectangle one-bed. North galley. South door to the corridor. Living in the southwest with windows. Bedroom east.

What blogs will say

MarketingA south door is unlucky. A north kitchen burns Kubera, or is the worst dosha. Move or “correct” both.

What the texts actually support

ClassicalBrihat Samhita lists mixed effects by which slice of a wall the door sits in — including some decent south padas. Manasara 36.26 puts kitchens in north, NE, or Parjanya, so “north kitchen = catastrophe” contradicts a classical house chapter. Brihat Samhita 53.118 prefers kitchen SE.

Living practiceA real conflict. The apartment picks function: light, exhaust, a door that works.

Fixed
Unit door facing, kitchen location.
Change this weekend
  1. 01Door: lit, swings freely, shoes to the side — not a heap. A working door matches classical fuss (53.79–81).

  2. 02Kitchen: hob away from sink if the run allows; cook facing task light; run the exhaust (Manasara 38 wants smoke out).

  3. 03Living: sofa on the solid wall; don’t curtain winter south sun in a cold climate “to kill Agni.”
  4. 04Bedroom: head south or east if it fits; quietest room for whoever sleeps worst.

Ignore
South-door pyramid, “NE/north kitchen doom,” red pyramid by the microwave.

A south door and a north kitchen are common builder facts. Light, exhaust, and a clear entry beat a gadget.
